What Happens When You Are Stressed?
When you are stressed, your heart speeds up. You may feel pounding in your head. You may feel like you are about to have stomach ache or diarrhea. You may also experience hunger pangs, which is why stress can lead to weight gain. Stress can also increase the chance for colds, infections, Sleep Disorders, skin problems and loss of sex drive.
These happen because the pituitary gland releases a hormone that triggers the stress hormones called cortisol and adrenaline. When in the bloodstream, these hormones can make your body systems upset.

Stress is usually linked to aging, too. The doctors at the University of California conducted a study on chronically stressed women showing chromosomal changes (i.e. faster aging). There are telomeres at the end of chromosomes. The ones in those stressed women are shorter. Naturally, telomeres shorten as people age. Telomeres shorten and soon die out leading to visible changes in the body such as wrinkles and organ failure. The study only proved that stress can rush aging.
